In contrast to Nguyen Tri Due and some of the other female recruits, the revolutionary career of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, another early militant, lasted longer and was more successful. Although she seems to have been subjected to similar pressures to have affairs with her comrades, Minh Khai came through her political apprenticeship with her confidence and commitment intact.

Perhaps the reason is that she did not come under the influence of the cynical Lam Due Thu. Although she received only a primary school diploma (six years of schooling), she was, like Nguyen Tri Due, a bright pupil who became involved in revolutionary activities at a young age.
